Basic

Basic mode is intended for first-time Urban Forestry users and users who want to complete a standard forestry workflow quickly. It connects common steps through the Urban Forestry Workflow and provides adapted default parameters that generally require no adjustment.

Input Data

  • Point cloud data in the current project.
  • For unclassified and unnormalized data, retain the default selected steps so that preprocessing and individual-tree processing run in sequence.
  • If a step has already been completed, clear its checkbox to avoid repeated processing.

Function Structure

The following functions are organized according to the groups shown in the Basic mode interface.

Processing Order

The Urban Forestry Workflow executes the selected steps in this order:

1.Subsampling 2.SOR Filter 3.Classify by Deep Learning 4.Normalize by Ground Points 5.Segmentation 6.Calculate Tree Parameters 7.Export Report

Steps

1.Check the input point cloud in the current project. 2.Select the workflow steps required for the current data status. 3.Retain the Basic mode default parameters for the first processing run. 4.Click Run and wait for the selected steps to finish in sequence. 5.Check the segmentation and parameter calculation results, and use the editing functions if corrections are required. 6.Switch to Pro when a step requires independent parameter adjustment or reprocessing.

Parameter Recommendations

  • Basic mode parameters are adapted for continuous workflow processing. Retain the default settings for the first run.
  • Clear classification or normalization steps if the data has already been processed.
  • When running Subsampling independently in Pro mode, do not directly use the standalone function's default parameters. Use the Basic mode Subsampling settings as a reference and adjust them manually.
  • If one step produces unsatisfactory results, switch to Pro mode and rerun only that function.

Output and Result Check

  • Segmentation results and tree parameters are used for subsequent editing, measurement, and report output.
  • If the original elevation was retained during normalization, use Denormalization to restore it.
