Building Contour

Function Description: Extracts the outer outlines of building point clouds, supporting both airborne and ground-based point cloud. Detailed information is provided below.

Operation Steps

1.For ground-based point cloud, check the Horizontal Section and select a height with a complete outline and high point cloud density as the horizontal section location for data extraction. Airborne point cloud generally does not require this step.

2.Select the building point category.

3.Set parameters and output layer, then click OK to extract.

Parameter Description

  • Class: The category of the building points.

  • Selection: If you need to extract the building outline of a specific area, check this option and select the point cloud in the 3D view.

  • Ground Class: The category of the ground points. This needs to be set after checking Fill Height.

  • Fill Height: If checked, the extracted outline result will be snapped to the ground, and the building height will be written to the BuildingHeight field in the result layer.

  • Building Gap: The distance interval between buildings, used for separating buildings.

  • Minimum Building Area: Outlines smaller than the minimum building area will be filtered.

  • Layer: The extraction result will be saved in this specified layer.
