What is ModelBuilder

ModelBuilder is a visual programming environment used to create 2D/3D data processing workflows. 2D/3D data processing models are used to automate the execution of tool sequences for point clouds, vector, raster, and other data, while keeping a record of the process. You can create and modify 2D/3D data processing models in ModelBuilder, where a model is represented as a diagram connecting a series of data processing tools, using the output of one tool as the input to another.

ModelBuilder in LiDAR360MLS can be used to perform the following tasks:

  • Build models by adding and connecting data and tools.
  • Display the sequence of tool workflows in an easy-to-understand diagram.
  • Run models step by step until all steps are completed.

Model Example

Road maintenance personnel can collect point cloud data of roads and use the corresponding point cloud processing tools to analyze and detect damaged road surface areas. With the inspection reports and damaged area data generated by the tools, they can efficiently and clearly identify which road sections are severely damaged and carry out the appropriate maintenance plans.

Road Damage Detection

The model will run the following tools in sequence:

Detect Road Damage from Point Clouds: Edit road surface damage, such as rutting, cracks, undulations, potholes, bumps, and shallow pits.
PCI: Calculate the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) for each point cloud segment based on the detected road damage.
Export Report: Export all analysis results to a report file.
