Urban Forestry Workflow

Basic mode connects preprocessing, segmentation, tree parameter calculation, and report export into one workflow. Select the required steps and click Run to process them in interface order.

Input Data

  • Point cloud data in the current project.
  • The input may be unclassified and unnormalized. In this case, select Classify by Deep Learning and Normalize by Ground Points.
  • If a processing step has already been completed, clear its checkbox to avoid processing the data again.

Processing Order

1.Subsampling: Reduces point cloud density and the processing load of subsequent steps. 2.SOR Filter: Removes outlier noise. 3.Classify by Deep Learning: Identifies ground, vegetation, and other point classes. 4.Normalize by Ground Points: Removes the effect of terrain relief from point cloud elevations. 5.Segmentation: Extracts and separates individual trees. 6.Calculate Tree Parameters: Calculates tree height, crown diameter, and other tree parameters. 7.Export Report: Outputs the individual-tree processing results.

Steps

1.Check the input point cloud in the current project. 2.Select the workflow steps required for the current data status. 3.For the first processing run, retain the default parameters provided by Basic mode. 4.Click Run. The software executes the selected steps in order. 5.Check the segmentation and tree parameter results after processing. 6.Use Tree Editor for local corrections. To adjust and rerun an individual step, switch to Pro.

The following preprocessing functions are connected by this workflow. See the manuals in their original modules for detailed parameters and standalone operation:

Subsampling parameter notice for Pro mode: Basic mode provides subsampling parameters adapted for the continuous forestry workflow. When running Subsampling independently in Pro mode, do not use the standalone function's default parameters directly. First use the Basic mode settings as a reference, then adjust them according to the source point density and subsequent processing results.

Output and Result Check

  • Segmentation results and tree parameters are used for subsequent tree editing, measurement, and report output.
  • See Export Report for report contents and export instructions.
  • If the original elevation was retained during normalization, use Denormalization to restore it.
