Function Description: Clip point clouds using different formats of vector files and polygon vector objects.

Steps

1.Click Clip By PolygonInputFile(s)button, then the pop-up box pops up:

Description

  • Use Vector File: This mode refers to selecting external files for point cloud data clipping.

  • Vector File: This mode refers to selecting external files for point cloud data clipping.

    • .txt、.csv formats: It must include the planar coordinates of points and should be stored in sequence.
    • .dxf、.shp formats: The elements inside must be either polygon features or closed line features.
  • Use Select Polygon: This mode refers to selecting existing polygon vector objects or closed lines in the project for clipping; multiple selections can be made by holding down Ctrl.
  • Generate a file within a polygon: When selecting output as a single file, extract all polygon data from the vector file to clip the point cloud and integrate the results into a single file."
  • Each polygon generates a file: When selecting output as multiple files, extract all polygon data from the vector file to clip the point cloud, generating a separate file for each segment of the point cloud."
  • Generate extrapolygon file: When this option is selected, points outside the polygons will also be generated into a separate file.
  • Ignore Different Additional Attribute: In the case of processing multiple input point clouds, if this option is selected, only identical additional attributes will be merged. Otherwise, merging will not be possible as long as there are any differing additional attributes.
  • Output path: Output folder path, after the operation is executed, it generates newly clipped files."

2.Clipping effects using different methods:

(1)Use Vector File: Supports point vector files in *.txt and *.csv formats, and closed boundary line vector files in .dxf and .shp formats. In point vector files, vector elements need to be connected and in the same order.
