Save a Script File

Select Home > Save, or press Ctrl+S, to save the current script.

For a Script Tool opened from the Toolbox, saving updates the tool script. If Format on Save is enabled, the editor attempts to format the code before saving.

Switching Script Tools, closing the editor, or running a Toolbox script may also save the current contents. Save important changes explicitly.

Save options

• Check on Save is enabled by default and runs a full check after saving.
• Format on Save is disabled by default. If formatting is unavailable, the original text is still saved with a notice.
• Idle Check controls lightweight syntax checking while editing and is not a full check.

Running a Script Tool saves it again so that the current editor text is executed.
