TLS Point Cloud Individual Tree Segmentation

Overview

Terrestrial laser scanning, through its bottom-up scanning approach, can capture detailed structural information of tree trunks and branches. Identifying individual trees enables the acquisition of parameters such as tree location, height, DBH, height to crown base, and tree volume. These parameters are crucial for forest resource surveys and management.

Point Cloud-Based Segmentation Processing Workflow

Using LiDAR360 for point cloud segmentation generally involves the following steps: denoising, ground point classification, normalization, and point cloud segmentation. The point cloud segmentation step can be replaced with trunk-based individual tree segmentation.
