Define Tree Species Recognition Tool

Function Overview

Define Tree Species Recognition Tool is used to create and manage tree species recognition tool configurations. Users can configure models generated by Custom Tree Species Classification Model Training as reusable recognition tools. After a tool is defined, it appears in the Tree Species Recognition group of TLS Forest and can be used by Classify Tree Species from Point Clouds.

The software provides a predefined recognition tool named "Classify Tree Species from Point Clouds", which can be used directly.

Usage

Click the lower-right button of the Tree Species Recognition ribbon group in the TLS Forest module to open the tool definition function.

Tool Management

The tool management page is used to view and manage all defined tree species recognition tools. Users can create and delete recognition tools.

Add Tool

Enter the tool name, icon, and model path to be defined.

• Tool Name: Any name. The name cannot be duplicated.

• Icon: Any image that meets the image format requirements.

• Model Path: The drop-down list automatically lists model paths trained locally by Custom Tree Species Classification Model Training. In the table, the tree species in the model must be associated with tree species in the tree species library.

  • Species in Model: Tree species name specified during model training. It is listed automatically and cannot be modified.
  • Scientific Name: Latin scientific name of the tree species, usually named by genus and specific epithet. If the tree species library already contains a matching species, the matched species is displayed directly. Users can select an existing species from the drop-down list or enter a custom species name.
  • Chinese Scientific Name: Chinese name specified in the Chinese environment.
  • Common Name: Common tree species name.
  • Genus Name: Genus of the tree species.

• Add Genus: Adds a genus name that does not exist in the tree species library.

If the Latin scientific name is selected directly from the drop-down list, subsequent Chinese name, common name, and other fields cannot be edited. Otherwise, they can be edited.

Notes

• The software provides a predefined recognition tool named "Classify Tree Species from Point Clouds", which can be used directly.
• Before using a custom model, train the model with Custom Tree Species Classification Model Training.
• Defined tools can be selected in Tree Species Recognition.
