Stem Extraction

Function Overview

Stem Extraction extracts stem points from normalized airborne LiDAR point clouds. The extracted stem points can be used as seed points for subsequent individual tree segmentation workflows.

Usage

Click ALS Forest > Individual Tree Segmentation > Stem Extraction to open the tool.

Parameter Settings

  • Input Data: Input normalized point cloud data.

  • From Class: Source class used for stem extraction.

  • Stem Class: Target class assigned to the extracted stem points.

  • Minimum Tree Height: Minimum tree height threshold used during extraction.

  • Prefer GPU: Use GPU acceleration when a supported GPU is available.

  • Output Path: Folder used to save the extraction result.

Output

The tool outputs point cloud data containing the extracted stem points.
