DBH Inversion

Function Overview

DBH Inversion estimates the diameter at breast height (DBH) for one or more individual tree attribute files by using a generated DBH inversion model. The tool reads tree height and crown width from the input attribute file, applies the formula and coefficients stored in the model file, writes the estimated DBH value back to the attribute file, and generates an HTML statistical report.

Usage

Click ALS Forest > Individual Tree Attributes > DBH Inversion to open the tool.

Steps

1. Add one or more individual tree attribute files (*.treedb).
2. Select a DBH inversion model file (*.dbhim). The model should be created with Generate DBH Inversion Model.
3. Set the output path.
4. Click OK to start the inversion.
5. Check the DBH field in the output attribute file and review the HTML statistical report.

Parameter Settings

• Individual Tree Attribute File: Input individual tree attribute file. Multiple *.treedb files can be added.

• DBH Inversion Model: Model file used for DBH estimation. The model stores the selected formula and the fitted model coefficients.

• Output Path: Folder used to save the updated attribute files and the statistical report.

Output

The tool outputs updated individual tree attribute files with the inverted DBH values, and generates an HTML report containing the DBH statistical results.

Notes

• The input individual tree attribute file must contain valid tree height and crown width attributes required by the selected model formula.
• The reliability of the inverted DBH depends on the quality of the measured samples and the selected model.
