Surface Reconstruction

Functional Overview

This function is used for fast 3D modeling based on point clouds. Prior to executing this function, it is usually necessary to perform preprocessing such as denoising, sampling and smoothing on the raw data. This function does not require calculation of normals or generation of 3D model files.

Usage

Click Mine > Tunnel > Surface Reconstruction.

Parameter Settings

Reconstruction Settings

  • Point Cloud: Select the point cloud data file for surface modeling. File format: *.LiData.
  • Select Class: The point categories participating in surface reconstruction.
  • Remove Small Components: Whether to remove small object components, such as floating artifacts.
  • Calculate Vertex Colors: Use the point colors from the original point cloud as the vertex colors for the model.
  • Hinimum Perimeter of Hole: Holes with a perimeter smaller than this parameter will be filled.
  • Simplify To: Reduce the number of triangles in the original surface reconstruction model to the specified percentage. 100% means no simplification.
  • Smoothing Iterations: Apply smoothing operations to the original surface reconstruction model. 0 means no smoothing; higher values indicate more smoothing iterations and a smoother result.

Tile Settings

  • Tiling Method:
    • Custom Number of Point: Tile by point count, where each tile contains no more than the set number of points.
    • Custom Side Length: Tile by side length, where each tile is a square region of the set size.
  • Tile Buffer: The width of the overlapping area between adjacent tiles.
  • Level of Detail (LOD): Set when saving in 3D Tiles format.
    • Type: Adaptive quadtree is suitable for large-scale terrain data with small z-dimension variations; adaptive octree is suitable for data with consistent dimensions in all three axes.
    • Node Size: The maximum number of triangles allowed per tile.
  • Export Format: Supports 3D Tiles 1.1 standard format and .obj format.
