Extracting Toe and Crest Lines of Open-Pit Mines
Overview
Toe and crest lines play an important role in open-pit mine design, production planning, stripping volume calculation, and road network planning. Using LiDAR360 to extract toe and crest lines of open-pit mines generally involves the following steps: ground point classification, generating TIN from ground points, extracting mine slope lines based on the model, and editing through vector editing.
Processing Workflow
Click Data Management > Point Cloud Tools > Outlier Removal to denoise the point cloud data and remove the influence of noise points.
Click Classification > Classify Ground Points to separate ground points from the point cloud for TIN generation.
Click Terrain > Generate TIN to create a TIN model.
Click Terrain > Smooth Mesh to smooth the model.
Click Mine > Extract Toes and Crestes to extract toe and crest lines of the mine.
Use the Vector Editing module > Vector Editor to edit the resulting slope lines: modify, smooth, delete, merge, split, etc.
